DINING ROOM (BEFORE & AFTER)
We moved into our home in Jacksonville during the summer of 2016. While we are beyond ready to own our own home again, it just isn't the right time yet. We found this enchanting bungalow for rent, but it needed a lot of cosmetic love. It was my goal to take this house and make it an extension of myself. This can be challenging when you are renting, but it can be done - and well.
It is amazing what a coat of paint, new blinds, proper lighting, and accent pieces can do for a room.
I love how bright and sunny this room is and wanted to make it one of the central rooms in the house. Whether enjoying a meal, working, or playing a game. For our family, life takes place around the table and there is no better way to give some life to a room than surrounding yourself with plants and greenery.
When we first walked into this room, I immediately noticed the paint and wallpaper in the room and it's need to be updated. The problem with this room is that it had so much potential to be open and bright, but the color selection made the room feel naked and exposed when the windows were open. I wanted to select a color that felt bright and clean. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to go with a very light grey. After looking through many different color swatches, we decided on Gravity for the main walls and a plain white semi-gloss for the trim.
Over the years, I've accumulated quite a collection of tea cups. I love finding new and unique ways of putting them on display.
I like to create spaces in each room called "moments." These are places where you can sit and read, reflect, or enjoy a cup of coffee. This is such a huge part of how I put together a room, even my husband Calvin knows my verbiage and will often make fun of me and my "moments." 😊
It has been fun sharing my dining room with you. I look forward to continued posts on some of the memories that take place in the sweet space.
