ABNER'S BIRTHDAY WEEK - YEAR 3
Abner, as you turn 3 years old, I wanted to list out some of the wonderful things I love about you at this age. I love that you still find comfort from your blanket and it’s tag, I love how passionate you are with you kisses, how you always put your hands on your hips, or put your arm around my neck whenever you come near.
I also love how vocal you are and the specific ways you say thing:
“Beeb” or “Bass man” = Spiderman
“Too far” = When things get to crazy or silly
“That’s intense” = When something feels difficult or out of the ordinary
“Oph-off” = Olaf
“I hunky” with a belly rub = I’m hungry
“Daddy hampsome” = Daddy is handsome
“Mama you’re a nice friend” = Whenever you want to tell me you like being around me
“YEP!” = Whenever the answer to a yes or no question is yes.
“Uh kish you” = I kiss you.
“Poppys” = Puppies
We loved celebrating Abner’s 3rd Birthday. Below is a video of his Birthday Week along with some photos from our time together. I hope you enjoy.

Turning 5 is a big deal. Well, every birthday in the Payne home is a big deal. ;) As you know, around here we don't just have a birthday, we celebrate a birthday week. Last year we had a big party for Emet when he turned 4 and invited all of his friends to join him at the trampoline park. It was one of the last big social events that we've been a part of since COVID…
We celebrate another wonderful year with Abner in our lives. Even though it's only been two years, it's hard to imagine life without him. This boy makes us laugh and is so full of love. We had the best time celebrating him this weekend.
You never know what things your children are going to attach themselves to. Abner has grown a love for construction vehicles, Thomas / trains in general, and good food. We themed his birthday around trains and spent the day playing on his new train set, painting, driving around on his new digger, and eating lots of food…
This year Emet was even more aware as his birthday got closer and asked for a specific theme and decorations - which was super fun. We threw Emet a Planes themed party this year…
Getting to celebrate Abner’s birthday is something we’ve been super excited about. We are so grateful for his precious little life…
These are some of my favorite highlights from our weeklong celebration. We started the week by waking Emet to a fully decorated house. We put streamers on his door and filled the rooms with balloons. We wrapped all his gifts separately and allowed him to pick a different gift to open each day throughout the week…
I will always remember Emet’s 2nd Birthday. We were still in the middle of transitioning back to Louisville and in temporary housing - which made things a bit more challenging than a normal year. We were set on making his day special and making the most of our situation…
Calvin and I have had a tradition of celebrating "Birthday Weeks" in our home. As our birthdays approach, we pick when the week begins and when it will end. Each day holds its own unique part of the week-long festivities. But one thing is for sure, there will be lots and lots of cake...
My dear friend, Abigail, made what I believe to be the best chocolate cake ever. I think if you have one bite, you will agree with me…
This month, we celebrate our son Emet turning 6 years old. Sometime over the last year, our boys discovered and quickly fell in love with the show Bluey. So it’s only natural that Emet wanted his birthday to be Bluey themed this year.
Emet, as we celebrate your 6th year, here’s a small list of things we love about you…
