EASTER - 2021

Easter - 2021 (Via Jacintha Payne.com)

Holidays with the boys are always so much fun. We try to revisit traditions while introducing new activities in the mix. This year we did some Easter crafts, visited some friends for an egg hunt, and had a delicious ham for dinner along with our normal Easter traditions.

Below are highlights from our time together.

Enjoy!

Crafts

As we prepared for Easter, we did a handful of crafts together - most of which included the use of paint. We painted pictures. We painted wooden eggs. We even painted birdhouses. What we ended up with was a handful of keepsakes that I will look at and treasure for years to come. Stoping and doing crafts together isn’t always easy and sometimes craft time only lasts for as long as their attention spans will allow - which sometimes is only a couple of minutes. What’s left from those moments are permanent artifacts from a present moment that has long passed by. I’ll never regret the time or effort these little moments take.

Egg Hunt

This was one of the first holidays where people were starting to gather together since COVID arrived on the scene. Some close friends of ours had been meeting virtually for several months and in-person (outdoors) a handful of times. This group is filled with such wonderful people and some of us have children within the age range of enjoying finding candy-filled eggs. So we all contributed eggs, hid them outside, and let the kids collect as many as they could find. Of course, the best part is sorting through the eggs and admiring your best finds.

Easter Sunday

This year, we followed a lot of the same traditions as last year. We put together small baskets filled with the boys favorite toys and candy. We set some carrots out for the Easter Bunny to have a party with his stuffed bunny friends. The boys don’t really believe in the Easter Bunny, but they think this tradition is fun, so we keep it up. We spent time reflecting on the story of Easter with coloring pages, watching a video, and talking together.

It turned out to be a very beautiful day and we spent a lot of time outside. While the boys had their normal quiet time in the afternoon, Calvin and I hid eggs in the backyard. Since they had already collected a lot of candy, we filled the eggs with little toys to play with and coins for their money jars. Don’t worry, there was still a bunch of them filled with candy, too.

We ended the day with an Easter ham. We put the ham on Hawaiian rolls topped with honey and mustard. They were SO good.

Photo Shoot

Of course, what would Easter be without getting a few family photos together.

Thank you for sharing in these special moments with me.
