POWDER HORN MOUNTAIN - NC
Once a year, Calvin and I love to sneak away together for a time to "reset." We always try to select a location that allows us to unplug and go at a slower pace for a few days. We typically try to find a place that provides an opportunity for us to be outdoors, hike, and explore. During this time we try to talk about next year's budget, upcoming goals, and have intentional conversations that help strengthen and grow our marriage.
One of our cousins has a cabin on Powder Horn Mountain and it's one of our top places to sneak away to. There's nothing like being disconnected from the world and surrounded by nature with the one I love most. The closest store is about an hour away, so we will typically load up on food and drinks and prepare for our time.
A typical morning would consist of waking up and seeing a foggy mist over the mountains. We begin our day with fresh coffee, biscuits, bacon, and eggs. The cabin does not have wifi and our cell phones don't have service. It's perfect. It's a wonderful time to just enjoy one another's company and have good conversations.
What are some ways that you enjoy getting away and unplugging?
