HOLIDAY GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE
Holiday food is the best! We all have our favorite go-to recipes for the holidays: Turkey, Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Sweet Potato Casserole... Over the years one of my consistent contributions has been this Holiday Green Bean Casserole. The recipe started out pretty simple with canned green beans and canned cream of mushroom soup. Then, each year I've made adjustments and tweaks. Now I have a new super easy and tasty spin on a traditional holiday dish that I wanted to share with you, too. I hope you enjoy!
INGREDIENTS
32 Ounces - green beans
1 Cup - shredded English Coastal Cheddar Cheese
20 Ounces - sliced white mushrooms
16 Ounces - heavy whipping cream
1/2 Stick - salted butter
1 Clove - chopped garlic
1 Can - fried onions
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place the green beans in a large pot and fill with water until beans are slightly covered. Cook green beans over high heat until tender. Strain water and remove from heat.
In a small pan, combine butter and chopped garlic and cook over medium/high heat. Allow butter to melt with garlic. Once the butter has melted, add mushrooms and cook until mushrooms reduce and become spongy.
In a small saucepan, heat heavy whipping cream over medium/high. Once the whipping cream gets warm, add in the cup of shredded cheese. Stir contents until cheese melts, adding salt and pepper to taste.
Combine mushrooms and cream sauce together and stir. Then pour mixture into the large pot with green beans.
Place green bean casserole contents into a baking dish and top with fried onions.
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until casserole begins bubbling.
I hope you enjoy this recipe. I'd love to hear about some of your favorite holiday recipes - share them below!
Cheers!
