A NEW RHYTHM - 2020

I’m constantly learning that seasons don’t last forever.

Now that Calvin and I have been working from home together we needed to rework our daily rhythm again. I’m thrilled about this new life we’ve set up and really hope this season lasts a long time. It’s taken some work, but Calvin and I have learned how to work together even better this summer.

We set it up so Calvin has 3 scheduled days in the office and I have 2. And of course, we have the flexibility to move them around if we need. Our office days will look different with how we fill our time and splitting responsibilities. Whoever doesn’t have the office day will homeschool the boys, enjoy time with them, and care for the house responsibilities for that day.

When Calvin first came home to work from Covid, life looked different and that continued after he got laid off and began preparing to launch his business. Because of how we desire to function as a family, we knew we needed to balance out our days.

Earlier this year, I was hoping to put Emet into Pre-K this fall. We’ve decided to homeschool this year and just take it one step at a time with all that’s going on. I’ve so loved teaching my boys. More than I thought I would. I’ve loved imagining with them, exploring with them, creating with them, reading with them, teaching them all I know, and learning new things myself along the way. We will officially crack open more of the boys “school books” after Labor Day and I can’t wait to feel that rhythm set in place again. Some days we follow our rhythm and other days we throw it out and just enjoy our time together and go on an adventure.

Yesterday I spent my office day mostly brain dumping all my thoughts, along with some reading, writing, ordering the last of the school books for our boys, cleaning out some old files, writing a few thank you notes, planning goals for my blog, setting up the office a little more for the fall, planning one more rearrange of a couple rooms for the fall, and of course sneaking out to clean the chicken coop.

I’ve loved learning with Calvin this year and working with him at home. We’ve grown so much. We are more grateful than ever for life together and for the sweetness we're finding along the way.
