MOOD BOARDS FOR THE BOYS' ROOMS
As the arrival of sweet Abner draws ever closer, I've been putting last minute touches on the decor for his nursery. While we've been reusing some of the main furniture pieces for his room, I wanted his room to take on a new feel of its own - just for him. One way I tried to wrap my brain around what I want the boys rooms to look like is by creating "mood boards" for each of them. I try to make them something more than just a collage of photos - I want them to be something I could print out and show to Emet and Abner some day when they are older and add to their memory books. I wanted them to get a feel for the love and thought behind even the little details like decorating their room. Every color and piece has a meaning.
As soon as we decided on his name, we. picked out his life verse, hashtag, and color scheme. This mood board helped to display all of these thoughts in a clean and fun way.
Some of these images are simply ideas and the final product may look slightly different, but figuring out a theme and a feel is the most important part.

It was important to us that his room have a clean, fresh, and bright color scheme. This was achieved by having more muted tones with a couple prominent pops of color.
As we near his due date, this document has helped bring last minute inspiration as we make our final trips to the store to get items to put the finishing touches on his room.
We ended up putting together one for Emet as well. His room is ever changing and expanded on (when it comes to decor). We knew what we wanted but didn't have it all in the same place. Having a mood board like this from the beginning would have been really helpful.
